Identifying links in PDF files from Gmail on my iPhone

How do you detect a link in a PDF file that has been sent to you on your iPhone via Gmail? I’d like to check for a link BEFORE opening the document by clicking on the PDF insignia in the Gmail.

Though your purpose is not clear to me my answer would be as follows...

As I just learnt, the PDF insignia in Gmail refers to the icon or badge that indicates a file attachment is in PDF format. When you receive an email with a PDF attachment, Gmail typically shows a small icon next to the file name to denote that it is a PDF.

PDF Insignia does not show the content and similarly the iOS Mail app does not unless you tap the share icon and tap the document. See the pic below if that helps.

Thank you. Basically, I requested one of my documents from an attorney. First, they said that they couldn’t find the document and would have to search two different firms to find it. Eventually they sent it to me via email 3 months later.

All I saw was what looked like an icon that said pdf. When I opened the document, I noticed that it had been changed from the original. I told them that and asked them to resend with the original document.

I waited a week for the new email, didn’t get it, so I went back into the original email to look at the pdf they first sent me. MUCH to my surprise, the document had changed quite a bit.

All I could think of was that they sent me a link within the pdf icon that pointed to a file on their server that they kept changing. These are not very nice lawyers. It is in their best interest to keep the case stalled as long as possible.

Could I have actually opened a link disguised as a pdf icon? I also know that pdf files can be shared among several people while editing. I don’t think they thought I would notice the differences in the documents, but I have an original hard copy that I did not tell them about.

I’m not quite sure what to do about all of this, but I would like to see the actual link. How do I do this?

Thanks! Kim
