Live Streaming from a M4pro / M4max Laptop
Primary Task: I will be doing "study with me" live streams for long hours (12 hours+) while working on academic research and thesis writing.
Streaming Setup: Using OBS Studio with multiple layers:
- 3 live streams (vertical and landscape formats).
- 15 macros in Advanced Scene Switcher.
- Paint Splatter Overlay (Stream Scheme) and Streamlabs alerts.
- 3 Lua countdown scripts.
- 8-hour background music.
- 2 webcam sources.
- Multiple Google Chrome tabs open (around 10+).
Performance Requirements: I need a laptop that can:
- Handle CPU-intensive and GPU-driven tasks simultaneously.
- Stream without lag while running OBS with overlays, macros, and scripts.
- Multitask with multiple applications, including Google Chrome, without performance issues like overheating or high CPU usage (100%).
Questions:
- Will the M4 Pro handle this load comfortably, or do I need the M4 Max (64GB) for smooth performance?
- Can M4 Pro handle multitasking (OBS with overlays, Google Chrome, etc.) without performance bottlenecks over extended hours?
- Is it safe to stream for 12 hours straight on the M4 Pro without issues (overheating, lag, or throttling)?
- Considering I may use this laptop for 5-7 years, will M4 Pro be sufficient for future needs or is M4 Max a better long-term investment?
