Epson ET-2850 losing connection to iMac

After weeks of intermittent problems of print jobs taking *very* long times to arrive at the printer, connection was lost terminally between printer and iMac. I tried power cycling, both computer and printer. Nothing doing.

So, I deleted the printer from the printers list, intending to add it again. Alas, it is nowhere to be found. Resetting the MacOS printing system did not help. Power cycling again didn't either.

As far as I understand, the Epson ET-2850 is an AirPrint printer, so no specific drivers are needed. Is this true?

Any ideas will be most welcome.

TIA, G.

Make sure that the Epson is connected to your local network and then check it for a firmware update.

Can other computers, phones and/or tablets on your local network connect to the ET-2850 and print...?

If the ET-2850 is connected to your local network and printing from other devices.

Try reestablishing the connection with your iMac.

Yes that is true. My Epson ET-2750 can AirPrint with several desktop Mac's, a MacBook Pro, a couple of iPhones and iPad's.

Thank you for your reply, which reminded me that there are some things I did not do, like check the network connection...

However, the printer *is* connected to the network. But, it gave me the printer's IP address. At first, after plugging in the address, it gave me the generic postscript driver, which of course printed gobbledegook, but a second pass worked, sort of: I can print from my mac, and I can print from a MacBook (which retained its previous setup, before I started futzing around). However, I cannot access the scanner, and AirPrint devices on the network (iPad, iPhone) do not find the printer at all.

Looking at the printer's AirPrint setup page I find this:

No Bonjour location, and the Enable AirPrint button is off.

Any ideas?
