I bought a gift card for my nephews class gift exchange and when his classmate tried redeeming it, the card had already been redeemed. I’d like to know if it was a faulty gift card or someone probably stole it.
Sorry, but there is not a way to determine where it was redeemed. If you purchased it from a retailer where the cards are displayed on a rack and the public can tamper with them, then it is likely that the retailer did not protect your purchase and a scammer copied the code down and placed it back on the rack. Then they just need to wait until you activate it. Only purchase Gift Cards from retailers where they are secured behind a counter. This includes all Gift Cards, not just an Apple Gift Card.
Retailers are well aware of this common scam that has been around for years and escalates during the holiday season, but some simply don't really care if the customer loses money. Ironically some of these same retailers will lock up products where theft could cause them to lose money.
