My iMac is running very slowly

My computer is running very slowly - there's major lagging in app use and cannot participate in video calls due to extreme lagging and seizing up.

Another user had this problem and I saw they were suggested to post this EtreCheck report (attached) - any tips?

There is also no evidence that you backup the computer, this means ALL of your data is at risk and it is also a 100% guarantee that you will lose data. At the very least you should be using Time Machine to backup. If you are not familiar with Time Machine please click Back up your Mac with Time Machine. Time Machine requires an external HD to backup to, EHDs are inexpensive so there really is no reason to not be backing up. One External Hard Disk many experienced users on these forums prefer is the OWC Mercury Elite Pro. In your case I would recommend a 4 TB model.

In addition you have a third party VPN apps installed ( ExpressVPN.app ) which at best is 100% worthless and can damage Mac OS. It is worthless because it does NOTHING that Mac OS does not already do. In order to keep your Mac secure simply keep Mac OS up-to-date, turn security back on, and restart the computer about 1x per week. Please locate the uninstall instructions for ExpressVPN.app and follow to the letter. Moving forward, never install ANY of the following types of third party apps:

  • Antivirus
  • Cleaning
  • VPN
  • Security
  • Maintenance
