Why did my iPhone 13 Pro Max have an screen protector on it when I got it brand new out of the box?

THE SCREEN PROTECTOR THAT WAS ON MY IPHONE 13 PRO MAX HAD BLACK LINING AROUND IT like the normal iphone bezels AND A BLACK MESH OR SMALL NOTCH COVER THAT PROTECTED THE SPEAKER ON THE DISPLAY

Who knows what you bought. It wasn't new, it was used. Apple doesn't preinstall screen protectors on new iPhones. So whoever owned the phone before you bought it put one on it. If the phone was refurbished, they did a really bad job. A battery health of 86% is not good either. Your money, but I would return the phone for a full refund.

If you want to buy a refurbished iPhone, buy one directly from Apple, where it will come with a new screen and new battery and a full one year warranty --> Certified Refurbished Products - Apple

Apple discontinued the iPhone 13 Pro more than 2 years ago, so it is unlikely that you got a "new" phone......unless your phone sat in a warehouse somewhere for over 2 years. That would have been very bad for the battery.

I think you need to return the phone to the store where it was purchased and ask for some explanation.

Is the store was an authorized reseller, their name will appear when you look for stores in your area using this link:

If the store was not authorized, there is no telling what you really bought.

i bought the phone off amazon and i think it was a used or refurbished phone cause the battery health is at 86%

No question the phone was used. Even if it was refurbished, it would have at least come with a new battery if the work was done by an Apple approved facility.

How about warranty? Does your phone have any warranty when you check?

If your phone came with a screen protector, it did NOT come with one preinstalled by Apple. Apple has NEVER EVER preinstalled screen protectors on iPhone. EVER EVER EVER.

If I were you, I'd be more concerned about the battery in your phone. It says it likely wasn't touched before you got it and you simply bought a used iPhone which came from the previous owner who had installed a screen protector. There was no reason you couldn't remove the screen protector if you wanted to. Seeing a photo of another 13 Pro Max isn't going to offer you anything.

Simple truth is you bought a used iPhone. It's going to need a new battery in a few months. If you're OK with that, then just use and enjoy the phone until the battery health dips to 80%, then pay Apple $89 to replace the battery.

No one is going to have a close up picture of the iPhone 13 screen with the protective film covering the screen unless they happen to have a new iPhone 13 that they haven't used yet.

Think of the original screen protection as thick saran wrap. There was no black border around the film.

Your phone has a screen protector that was installed by one of the previous owner(s).

Whoever "refurbished" the phone did not bother to try to make it look "new"

Before Apple switched to a paper cover “protector” they used to have something semi similar to a screen protector but it wasn’t a true screen protector…just a temporary protective plastic sheet. I used to keep it on until I got a screen protector or case with a built in protector. I can’t recall if the 13 Pro Max was still like that or if it had got the paper-like one. It didn’t have any black border or anything though. As mentioned numerous times though….it is highly unlikely you got a new iPhone. It may have been listed as Renewed like a lot of them tend to be on Amazon.

nah it does not
but ion rly mind the 86% battery health and no warranty i just wanna make sure that my display is okay so if anyone has a clear picture of the iPhone 13 pro max display up close could you please send it in the chat i would rly appreciate it

You kind of SHOULD have an issue with the battery health. Likely, within the next 12 months, you'll need to have the battery replaced in your iPhone. Batteries in iPhone should be replaced when battery health dips to 80%. That is going to cost you $89.

i hope your not mistaking it for the clear plastic paper that you see over the display it self when you first open the box and that has the tag at the end that says peel off because it was not like that, it was like a screen protector made out of the same material of normal screen protectors that you can just buy but instead it had a black lining around it like bezels and a black mesh over the phone speaker at the top of the notch to protect the phone speaker.
