Cannot sign in to Chat GPT on Apple Intelligence

Updated MacBook Pro to 15.2 (24C101)

Enabled Apple Intelligence

Enabled Chat GPT

  • BUT, when clicking on log in (to my Chat GPT account), I get a "something went wrong" message *after* I enter my username, password, and security code for my GPT account

If any desktop/laptop users are having this problem. I saw in the developer threads that the problem disappeared if you turned off all VPN / Proxy / Adguard type stuff before logging in to ChatGPT. Can give a thumbs up for that. I'm in the UK. Should be able to link to ChatGPT but had this error.

Turned off all that stuff, signed in fine and have turned it back on again, seemingly without a problem.

In order for it to work here is a guide of what exactly I did.

  1. Fully wipe MacBook Pro
  2. Set up from scratch. I did not use migration assist (not now) note: Do not sign into apple account during initial set up. If it makes you sign in before you can proceed go ahead and sign in. Click "Continue" on Initial setup for AI. Uncheck "Enable Ask Siri". Setup touch ID if you want.
  3. Once you have gone through the initial setup process and on the home screen, click on settings and login into apple account. If prompted to sign and use Chat GPT, don't. *Do not setup apple ai with ChatGPT yet*
  4. If you have a paid or free subscription for chat GPT, open safari on MacBook, go to chat gpt.com. Once logged in, a pop up "should" come up and ask you to download the app for Mac. If it does not, click your initial inside the circle (top right) and click download MacOS app. Click on downloads and move the app icon to applications. Click on Launchpad and find the app and click on. Sign in once the black ChatGPT login window comes up. You'll know when you're ready to proceed if it logs you into Chat GPT on the app and you can ask it prompts. Do not close out of the app.
  5. Go into settings on MacBook and turn on Apple Intelligence and Siri. Hit continue. Allow the summaries. Hit continue on SIRI. Setup later if it prompts you to test "HEY SIRI" (I am pretty sure it is bugged right there as it doesn't work correctly for me either). Enable ChatGPT prompts. Click not now and continue on "improve Siri and dictation. That will close and then click on ChatGPT on bottom by extensions. Enable on "Setup prompts". Then click Use ChatGPT and setup.
  6. If you have a ChatGPT account, click "use with account" on bottom left. Click on "Sign in". Use that same login info that you used for ChatGPT.com that we did earlier in the steps to download the app. This will allow you to sync Siri and ChatGPT with MacBook. If it worked, it should immediately close out and show that you are successfully setup by showing your ChatGPT account info (email). Hopefully no error signs like we've been getting.

I wrote this set up process as I did the reset on my very own MacBook pro this morning and tested it twice following these steps. Good Luck!
