Apple TV remote won’t change volume

The Apple TV remote on the newest model won’t change the volume of the television. Already tried resetting the controller by pressing the tv button and volume button. Didn’t work. Also changed the volume control setting in the home theatre section but that didn’t work either. Any tips?

Else set Apple TV to use IR for volume control, if your TV or audio system has an IR receptor for the remote.

If your TV or audio system uses some unusual non-standard IR signals for volume control, then you can re-program what the Siri Remote should send (Learn New Device).
