I need a new portable external hard drive for a Mac desktop . Can someone refer me to a good source of info to choose one. My Mac desktop is running out of room and I need to clean it up .

There are dozens if not more that would work with your Mac. If you do a web search for something like "external hard drive reviews" you'll find various sites that will present options. Which would suit you best will depend on what you plan to use it for - e.g just for backup, or for storing major working files such as videos you're editing - and how much space you need. I've had good results with the drives from Other World Computing (aka OWC or MacSales) and they offer a wide ranges of types and capacities, but there are other good brands available.
