NOT ENOUGH DISC SPACE-to Copy on Image Disc

Assuming you are talking about a Disk Image, how did you create it and what storage options did you choose.
If you created it from a folder, it will be a set size slightly larger than the items in the folder.
If you wanted a resizable disk image, you must create a blank disk image.
Barney- Thank you. Even though I re-researched how to encrypt a folder via disc image after I had been doing it for years, I had no idea how to use "Blank Image: and set the capacity. I guess it's because the folder contains videos, and large amounts of memory are added. And: File> New Image> "Image from a Folder" means to me encrypt a folder, and selecting the "Read & Write" permissions options means any capacity. Now I know, and I thank you.
Also, where did my original text description of this issue go? Did my picture upload replace it? Now that's just plain______. Here it is- lucky I composed in another app.:
Good morning!- Today's issue: trying to add a file to an open encrypted Disc Image and I get a window pop-up:
Not enough disc space to copy "File Name.m4a" > Additional 205.4 MB odf disc space is required to copy this file> you can manage disc space by removing items fromthe Storage section of About This Mac.
Blue button: Manage Disc Space- which diirects you to Settings General menu with a list of I don't know what.
Please! I have 1.5Tb space on my computer. How do I add space? I don't see legible answers researching- plus I don't have the time!

Did apple edit that out?
Thanks, Bob,
However, the issue was explained by Barney and was tested. I should have created a Disc Image from a Blank Image instead of an Image from a Folder.
I don't know what happened to the text. That was the only way I had any clue it might be related to a disk image.
