Selecting multiple photos for transfer from MacBook Air to thumb drive

I don't want to move all of them - just the ones from several years back. I've been clicking on them one at a time, but there must be a faster way to select them. I tried to go to "Years", but it won't allow me to move that.

If pictures are together, you click on the first, then shift-click on the last to select them all. Command-click selects (or de-selects) multiple pictures that are not all together. See this:

I would suggest you not do hundreds at a time-- smaller batches are better. If something goes wrong, you won't have to start all over, again.
