iPad Air heating up while using pen for notes

I’ve noticed that my iPad Air 11 inch 6 gen has started to heat up quite a lot while taking notes and even when using procreate. While it’s the worst in the Apple note taking app i don’t think it was like this a couple months ago since I would use my iPad to draw. It heats up very quickly and it’s something I’ve just noticed now while getting back into using my iPad to take a few notes. Is this something that happens in a recent update or could it be just my ipad ?
