Sometimes the phone barely charges, sometimes it works flawlessly. It’s pretty random.
I charged twice using the mag safe charger last night. The first time it worked just fine, the second time it barely charged a few percentages. I used the exact same charger both times.

What were the results when you charged with and without your case? Is it an Apple Case?
I tried both with and without the case.
And I don’t think it can be due to the larger capacity. When it doesn’t charge well, it barely gets a few % throughout the night.
It’s an apple case, so is the rest of the equipment.
I get the same behavior with or without the case.
Whose MagSafe charger? Apples new MagSafe chargers uses the new Qi 2 standards and charges at 15 watts. Older Qi first gen chargers can only charge at 7.5 watts. Double the wattage, half the charge time.
Do you use a case? Cases can definitely affect proper alignment for full charging. Try charging without the case and see if you can isolate the issue. iPhone 16 Pro has larger capacity, so inherently it will charge slower to get to the same percentage of charge.
Personally, I quite using wireless charging because I frequently didn’t get it aligned properly.
I’ve also tried plugging the MagSafe charger in both an iPhone 20W charger and MacBook one. Same random behavior.
I just want to stress again that I’m not talking about the difference between fast charging and normal charging.
I accept that my old MagSafe charger can’t fast charge.
What I’m seeing is barely any charging, something like only 10% over the course of the night.
Batteries charge at the maximum amps/watts they can draw. Do away with the wireless charging and plug into a 30 watt charger and you’ll enable fast charging. iPhone charges in less than two hours depending on charger, thermal conditions, battery condition and other factors.
So here’s you options,
Qi charger is failing, charging cable is failing or wall charger is failing. Solution is to replace each component and test further.
iPhone is failing. Have Apple perform diagnostics and if proven defective, replace under warranty.
Im not sure where you want to go from here.
It’s a previous generation charger.
I would accept that it’s the issue if it didn’t work fine some of the time.
