Face ID Unavailable After Update on iPhone

Issue Description:

Immediately after completing the update, I noticed that the Face ID feature stopped functioning. Each time I attempt to use it, I receive an error message indicating that Face ID is unavailable, or it fails to respond entirely. This issue persists across all applications and system functions that rely on Face ID.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

To resolve the issue, I have already attempted the following steps:

1. Restarted the Device: I performed a full restart of the iPhone, but the issue remained.

2. Cleaned the TrueDepth Camera: I ensured that the camera is free of any dirt, debris, or obstructions that could interfere with Face ID functionality.

3. Reset Face ID: I reset the Face ID settings and attempted to set it up again, but the device failed to complete the process.

4. Checked for Additional Updates: I verified that the software is fully up-to-date, but the problem persists.

Impact of the Issue:

This malfunction has significantly impacted my daily use of the device, as I rely on Face ID for unlocking my phone, authorizing payments, and accessing secured apps. The inconvenience caused by this issue is considerable, given how integral Face ID is to my workflow and device security.

Request for Assistance:

I kindly request your support in diagnosing and resolving this issue. Please advise if:

• There is a patch or software update planned to address this problem.

• I need to bring my device to an Apple Store or authorized service provider for further inspection.

Please let me know how to proceed at your earliest convenience. I rely heavily on this feature, and I hope for a swift resolution to restore full functionality to my device.

If you still need help, reset your Face ID, then set it up again. Go to Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, then tap Reset Face ID. Next, tap Set up Face ID to set it up again.

If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro

Parts and service history

With iPhone 12 models and later using iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About to see the parts and service history of your iPhone and you can see if the camera has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, you will see "Genuine Apple Part" next to Camera.

  • You will see an Unknown Part  message if the camera installation is incomplete or if the camera:
  • Was replaced with a nongenuine camera
  • Was already used or installed in another iPhone
  • Isn't functioning as expected

This message doesn't affect your ability to use your iPhone or access your camera.

If your iPhone's camera has been previously replaced, repaired, or serviced by an unauthorized service provider, it's worth noting that Apple may decline to provide service for your device. The decision to refuse service will depend on the specific components that were affected by the unauthorized service.
