iOS and iPadOS 18.1.1 and 18.2 have been solid, around here.

Biggest issue for some folks has been around the passwords user interface. Apple has moved the saved passwords and passkeys and verification codes all into the Passwords app. This on current versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. The new app works better than the previous more complicated UI, but, well, it’s different.

Apple settings sometimes (rarely) get corrupted in some cache somewhere (such as that Siri issue in another reply here), and the fix for that is to switch to the other value, restart the device, and switch the setting back to the preferred value. This particular settings corruption has seemingly been going on for some years, appearing locally maybe a couple of times a year and that across multiple devices and multiple Apple Accounts. It’s rare.

I've had issues with my iPhone XS starting with 18.1 and continuing in 18.2 where the screen input response is very messed up like I get a select instead of scroll when I swipe up, same thing when I'm trying to switch apps or leave an app to go to the home screen. Sometimes I am unable to type in my screen lock pin and it won't register my taps or even throws in 5 numbers when I've only tapped one time. It is absolutely maddening. I had hoped that 18.2 would fix the problems, but they're just as bad.

That’s probably a failing display or digitizer, or maybe a failing (swelling) battery.

Thank you.

I’m pretty leary about upgrading to ANY NEW iOS.

Through a great deal of manipulation and trial and error, I was able to overcome most of the problems I had with 18.1.1, BUT… I am still unable to get Siri to work properly. While that’s minor, It’s pretty irritating because I used to use it all the time. When I first say, “Hey Siri,” it responds with an “uh huh..?” like always. AFTER I ask my question, all I get is a printed text at the top of my screen. I’m pretty sure my settings are correct, I enabled Siri to respond verbally. SHE DOES NOT..!! UGH..!!

Please check settings at two locations. Please follow these paths,

iPhone > Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Siri Responses > Prefer Spoken Responses > enable – if it is enabled, please momentarily turn off and back on

iPhone > Settings > Accessibility > scroll down > Siri > Prefer Spoken Responses > enable – if it is enabled, please momentarily turn off and back on

Please turn your iPhone off and back on.
