How to delete Image playground from my iMac M3 and MacBook Air M1?
Deleting Image playground for my iPhone was easy. How do I delete this thing form my Mac's? It just won't go to the trash.

On 25 05-2025 auto-magical installed by Apple.
Siri language is not the same as system language
Because of my disability I can't use Siri.
Apple this is getting pathetic, please fix this.
And I hate the lack of control on my own computer, somebody had to say this.
That's right. On a Mac, Image Playground is an integral part of MacOS and it can't be removed. You may own your computer, but Apple owns MacOS. There are loads of things built into the OS you can't remove. If you don't want to use Image Playground, don't use it, like you likely don't use every single thing built into your Mac as it is.
Is your Siri language different from your system language because of Apple Intelligence?
Ultimately however, you aren't speaking with Apple here. This is a user to user only forum and no one from Apple will see or read your comments.

But they absolutely do own the computer, so they are absolutely allowed to have negative feelings about what they own.
But users don’t own the software; they have a license to use it, but Mac OS still belongs to Apple.
And one last thing; you absolutely can remove whatever you want from Windows. Regardless of consequences.
Yes, which is why there are hundreds of security updates to Windows every year, and why just about all scam and spam botnets run on Windows PCs co-opted by hackers.
Apple has solved this problem by putting Mac OS and all Apple installed apps on a separate partition that is read-only, and thus can’t be hacked, but that means that nothing can be deleted from it either. As it is a separate partition, it does not use any user storage.

I bought an iMac before Apple intelligence was a thing. I opted out of the pointless generative nonsense I will never use.
it now takes up 7 GB of space minimum on my disc even though I have turned it off that is unacceptable
If you disabled Apple Intelligence the 7 GB allocated for its database is marked as removable, and it will be reclaimed if space is needed.

People are allowed to voice their opinions on here, it's a community where discussions - not always positive - are going to be had, and that's ok. I think it's a valid when people spend thousands of dollars on a piece of equipment that they are entitled to feel disappointed where they don't feel it provides the customisation or quality they want.
You cannot delete any of the installed files part of the System. That is even true for apps you do not use, such as Chess, Stocks, Reminders, or Launch Pad. Like it or not, that is the case and there has been no change where it was allowed before. Maybe someday that will be possible, but it is not today. It really is that simple.
If you do not like that policy, then the correct answer has been given many times to send feedback to Apple. This is not a Social Media site and Apple will not see your concerns here. This site is focused on Technical Support questions and Technical Support answers, and for this topic the answer has been given. End of story.
Try again to delete as I was just able to delete after the latest update.

Further to add this is not an issue exclusive to Apple.
Microsoft do it on their platform Google do it on their platform even Samsung do it if you buy one of their phones.
providers need to get over the fact that they think we need to use all the software if we don’t use it we should be able to delete it. It just wastes space on the devices we have paid for.
I get what you want. But this forum isn't Apple Support. It is a user to user only forum and Apple isn't here, nor are they reading these posts for feedback. As such, no one here can give you what you want. So asking for it here, will get you nothing.
Feel free to tell Apple what you want here --> Product Feedback - Apple
And you are right, every software company you mention, builds things into the Operating Systems you cannot remove. Apple is no different and it's likely not going to change, unless of course, you have enough money to buy these tech companies and you can change how they manage their operating systems.

The icon is the only reason I don't want it on my machine. I'm an adult.
I'm not sure what being an adult has to do with not liking an icon. "Adults" is a very large demographic with varied tastes and preferences.
Put it in a folder where you don't have to look at it.
The app appears before you opt in and can't be deleted. It's the U2 album all over again

It's not free, though. It's using up overpriced hard drive space.
It's also a big reminder that even though I can sudo, I don't truly own root on my machine. I can't delete a file.
Huh? It didn't cost you anything and the amount of space it uses on a mac is an incredibly small 2.2mb, far smaller than the average single photo you store on your computer. If this teeny tiny amount of space is a concern to you, then you don't own a computer with enough memory to begin with.
And yes, you don't own the Operating System on your computer. Just as you don't own the operating system on ANY device with an Operating System. You have a license to use it. And just like with ALL operating systems, things which are built into them can't be removed.
I guess you missed this post in this thread: How to delete Image playground from my iM… - Apple Community
And your iPhone and iPad do not have a separate read-only system partition. Although perhaps they should for the security benefits.

You cannot censor me.
No, but the Apple forum hosts can.
However, what part of THE SYSTEM PARTITION WHERE ALL BUILT IN APPS ARE STORED IS READ-ONLY.
That should not be that hard to understand.
And your question has been answered over and over.

This is terrible! Just let me delete it. I can't delete it, I have disabled apple intelligence.
Definitely one of the worst things that could happen to a person!
Let Apple know how you feel here:
its because it runs as a system app file you cant delete those unless you disable SIP in recovery mode. they really need to fix that in the store. i recommend just hiding it unless you know what your doing.
sudo chflags hidden "/System/Applications/Image Playground.app"
do that in terminal and it should hide it. if not then, nothing else you can do really.
I'd like to do the same, like native apple apps on MacOS, it doesn't seem possible.
Try again to delete as I was just able to delete off my iPad.

Yes, you can deleted it from iPhone and iPad. You CANNOT delete it from a Mac.
