How to sync my Itunes library with another music folder on an external harddrive?

Hallo,

I copy my music folder from my old macbook pro computer on an external harddrive. Then I imported this folder on my new windows 11 computer in Itunes. I noticed that there are a lot of songs missing in Itunes on my new windows computer. (these were not songs I bought at Itunes).

Now I want to sync the Itunes library on my windows computer with the music folder on the external hardrive to have my all songs again.

But first of all I see that the sync button in Itunes on the windows computer is not active. Second I read some support info on Itunes support and they only write about sync library with Iphone, Ipad or Ipod.

That is one way of syncing. I want to sync Itunes library with my musicfolder on my external drive. The other way around.

Further on I don't want to delete my Itunes library on my windows computer and then import the music once more. This because the songs are also used by other DJ applications.

Please is there someone there to help me out?

Without more details it is possible that the missing songs are .wav files that are now all organized under Unknown Artist/Unknown Album. Importing a folder should add all compatible media. iTunes will ignore hidden files, but if they worked previously on the Mac that shouldn't be an issue. The only other possibility is that you didn't copy over all of the source files from the previous computer, e.g. you could potentially have had tracks that were stored in your downloads folder or some other location.

There is a separate "Sync Library" term that relates to the Apple Music subscription service, which isn't to be confused with the Apple Music app. (Why Apple, just why?)
