I reached out to Apple Support directly, let see whether the followings help :

  1. Setting/General/Transfer or Reset Iphone/Reset Networking Setting. That said, that did NOT work in my case but you may try it first.
  2. Called Apple Support for the second time, then that guy said they need to reconnect ( might not be using the exact technical word here) the mail server. He kicked off that but I also have to press a few buttons on my iphone to restart and then wait for probably 2-4 hrs. So far, seems ok. The button steps are : 1. Volume up, then release, 2. Volume down, then release, 3. Hold the Power until you see the Apple logo ( you might see the slider to switch off the phone, ignore that until you see the logo). Then restart and wait for that 2-4 hrs. Again, you need to speak to the Apple Support Team first as they need to reconnect to mail server.

Hope this helps.

low power mode, which YOU turn on and off, does not affect email. So if it is on, turn it off.

Here is Apple’s advice for troubleshooting email issues→If you can’t send or receive emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I would add to that if you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN.

switching to List on iphone made ipad mail appear “correctly.”

thanks

18.2 both devices.

went to get my free bbq sando with email.

email showed on ipad.

when i got there and opened my iphone to Mail, no coupon email!!!

came home. now i noticed my iPHONE Mail — the only one that has this new “Primary” thing — i has figured it was a new label for ALL INBOXES. so i noticed, wow, the mail *showing* in the iphone was quite a bit different.I had never noticed. WOW.

Came to this thread. On the iPhone using the upper right 3 dots, I switched it to List. Now Primary has gone/switched.

And the iPhone now looks like and the same mail messages as the iPad.

For me, that is all I did. No wifi or any other changes, no restarts.

ymmv

I had the same problem. After the iOS 18.2 update with my Gmail not syncing to my iPhone mail app. Here’s how I was able to fix it. Open your Gmail app. at the top There’s a banner with several options primary will be highlighted in blue tap it, and it will change to all mail. That fixed my problem and Gmail came into my iPhone Mail app. Hope this helps everyone.

I've been seeing this issue since the 18.2 update and it appears to be related to some kind of rate limiting - in my case the problem is specific to gmail, to whom I assume some requests are getting blocked after a number of connections.

A quick workaround to get mails moving again is to switch IP address, by dropping off wifi and falling back to mobile data, or using a VPN (if you have one).

Not a long term solution but maybe enough to prevent me from switching to outlook while I wait for Apple to fix this.
