How to watch Purchased Films on Smart TV.....

I have numerous movies I have bought which are stored in my iPhone / iPad in the appletv+ app in Library. When I open the app on my smart TV the Library is not showing up on the left. How can I watch the movies I have purchased on the TV?

Windows, Windows 6

If I recall correctly, the AppleTV+ App through Sky only allows access to streaming AppleTV+ content - and does not allow access to purchased movie content. This is limitation of the Sky platform - presumably as Sky would prefer to sell or rent movies to you directly. There are several discussions on this topic in the Sky Community forums.

Other than connecting your iPad to your TV in the methods already described, you might alternatively consider connecting an AppleTV box to your TV. This will provide unrestricted access to the entire AppleTV and AppleTV catalog, including movies that you have purchased through the Apple platform.

Does your SmartTV support AirPlay?

Assuming that you have downloaded and stored purchased media to your iPad, you might consider using AirPlay to wirelessly play this material on your TV.

Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Alternatively, you might use a wired HDMI connection - for which you will require an appropriate HDMI Adapter and HDMI cable. By example, depending upon you iPad model:

  • USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

  • Lightning Digital AV Adapter

For media that was purchased via AppleTV+, download and install the AppleTV+ App intended for your SmartTV. Your TV may already have an AppleTV installed - that simply needs to be enabled from your TV settings; others may require you to download the App from the TV Manufacturers App Store - again, this being accessed from your TV sertings.
