Screenshots problem. Screenshot not opening and gives error message on Mac Air M1.

When I take a screenshot and go to desktop where it is saved the screenshot icon is there with "Waitingto update " message underneath. When you double click to open it gives tis message: "The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSFileProviderInternalErrorDomain error 12.)"

Whats wrong and how do I fix it? The problem started after the Mac Os 15.1.1 update

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.1

Seems you have pending deletions. Go to your Recently Deleted folder, and deleter all items in it. If you need to, go to iCloud Drive, and delete them from here.

Thank you for the followup reply.

Fixing the Error:

A. Single-Out this User:

See if you get this error with a new administrator user. If so, then it is an issue with your current user. If not, then it is an issue with the entire MacOS.

B. Recover from a Time Machine Backup:

Did you backup your Mac, prior to this? If so, then restore your Mac from that. So that nothing is lost, you'd backup you Mac prior to doing so, and then restore your data from the backup you just created, through use of Migration Assistant.
