I too have been receiving dozens of spam emails a day from the @em.shutterfly.com domain. A rule to send these emails directly to Trash is sufficient for me, as the Trash folder is automatically deleted after a period of time. Personally, I've simply blocked *@*shutterfly* emails, as I do not (and will never) use Shutterfly. Of course, this is up to each individual's discretion.

No.

My lists are getting so long and starting to hang up as I try to add more. Any help, guidance, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you're using a Mac, you might try SpamSieve. It works very well. It's not free but it may be your best alternative to abandoning your email address.

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can let them know your thoughts here:

Product Feedback - Apple

It's very likely that the email address you're seeing is not the actual sender address. I'd suggest creating a rule that moves mail with "Shutterfly" in the subject line rather than relying an a probably ever-changing sender.

Ok, so just had tech support screen share with me and we worked on this issue. For some reason the rule was not working when setup. So we first restarted the computer. Second we deleted the old rule. Third we setup the new rule as seen in the image provided. It should prompt you to "Apply" the rule. Mine never asked me to apply it for some reason. We moved one of the spam emails to the inbox and within a few seconds the rule kicked in and moved it to the bin for as it should have been doing all along. Now, will it work on the next email that arrives we will just have to see but it seems to be set up correctly right now. Make sure it includes the @ as my previous Rule did not have that part. May make a difference.

Just submitted feedback to Apple. I have a rule (1st on my list!) to filter these email IDs ... the subjects do NOT include the word Shutterfly as they are masked as companies (insurance, home loan, car loan, gutters, etc. -- see attached) and the senders names and subject lines vary. As someone else commented, since there isn't a "select all/block" function, you'd have to block each email individually. Just today alone I put my phone aside when I went to lunch for 1.5 hours. When I picked it up again I had 24 emails in my junk mail and 23 of them were these Shutterfly addresses (@em.shutterfly.com) -- even with the RULE I created! I'm sure all email apps have their issues, but if Apple doesn't have any interest in investigating to make their app more secure to a blatant abuse like this, why stay? Thanks to the other comments on this thread, I know I'm not the only one! (and if you google that domain, there are a LOT of others in the same boat). Apple ... please make it stop!

I don't work for Shutterfly, but wanted to comment that Shutterfly never appears in the subject line of the spam I'm receiving. The emails look like they're coming from other company names and subjects are all different. When you go into the email you see that the sending email is Shutterflyxxxx@em.shutterfly.com. With an endless number of 4 digit/"x's" combos, blocking each one would take forever. I tried using the tool Apple makes availble to us (mail rules) and these emails blow right by them. Shutterfly rule is the top of my rules list and it is doing NOTHING to stop the emails from coming. Over a 1.5 hour lunchtime, I had 24 junk emails and 23 were from @em.shutterfly.com. I submitted feedback to Apple ... not sure they'll do anything, but clearly this shutterfly thing is not unique to me.

Apple can't make it stop. This is the way email works no matter whose email service you're using. Anyone who has your email address can send you emails as often as they want.

If you had an MS @outlook.com email address, it wouldn't change anything. Once spammers have your address, they sell and share live addresses on lists. Would you then blame MS and tell them to make it stop? The answer would be same. They're not sending them, and they're not in control of your email, so they can't.

I get about 100 a day. Apple has the worst email app for this type of stuff. It is like they just do not care. I tried to set up a RULE to automatically move any email that contains the following [@em.shutterfly.com] but it doesn't do anything. I tried to go onto iCloud to do the rule there and it makes you use the entire email address which doesn't work since the spammers change the first part of the email every time. You can't even select all the junk mail at one time and block in bulk you have to do them one at a time.

I mean all I need is a simple way to block any email from a sender address that contains [@em.shutterfly.com] and automatically send it to trash. APPLE, wake up and do your job.

It is not about making it stop it is about managing spam. Apple CAN make it easier to manage it. As I said, a simply FUNCTIONING rule would have eliminated over 349 emails to me in the last 3 days. They would have arrived and automatically been sent directly to the trash. I would not have seen them or had to go to each one of them, block the sender, and then move to trash. That is a lot of actions every single day that waste time. Since more spam emails come from a single source like "em.shutterfly.com" you would only have to create a rule to address any email from that address no matter what they place in front of @. Apple already has a tool to take care of this but it doesn't work. I have rules setup but they do not do anything. So they can help users manage spam in a very effective way with what they already offer - IF IT ACTUALLY WORKED.

At least it worked, but geez! it should take restarting the computer and recreating a rule to get it to work.

There was a similar discussion about this issue a few months back. I don't normally use Mail because I absolutely despise how it handles attachments. But I set up various test rules to see if they'd work. Some blocked phrases, others "from" filters. They all worked as expected.

However, just because I couldn't get the filters to fail on my end doesn't mean there isn't a problem. I've seen too many of these around the web (not just on Apple's forums) where users complain the filter matches go right through.

This is getting really out of control. I am bombarded with probably upwards of 50+ emails a day to my apple mail ID from Shutterflyxxxxx@em.shutterfly.com (xxxx are variable characters). I set up rules to delete any mail "from" that contains/ends with @em.shutterfly.com and try to keep up with blocking each individual ID as they come into my mail. VERY frustrating. My trash is FULL of pretty much ONLY this Shutterfly stuff that can be political, pornographic/offensive topics, mislabeled products and services, etc. Anything Apple can do to block them before they get to us at a user level? My lists are getting so long and starting to hang up as I try to add more. Any help, guidance, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
