MacBook battery won't charge after USB was disabled

My Macbook was working perfectly last night, although recently I have been having a problem with the pop up that says “USB accessories disabled. Disconnect the device using too much power”. It happens when I have my usb mouse plugged in at the same time as the charger, but I would just take one out for a few minutes and everything would work again. Whenever this happened, one of the two USB ports still worked.

Last night when I got the popup, I unplugged both accessories, then tried plugging it back into the charger before going to bed. Neither port was working, but I figured it would enable again overnight, charge, and be ready to use today. That was not the case - this morning my laptop flashed me the dead battery logo with the indicator to connect to power. I disconnected the cable and tried again in both USB ports and in a different wall outlet, and nothing. Then the battery drained fully, so now I don’t even get the flashing dead battery logo.

I have now left it plugged in for several hours today, in various outlets that I confirmed working. I know the cable and the adapter work just fine because they still charge my other devices with no issues, and it was charging my laptop last night right before I got the popup. I tried gently cleaning the ports with a toothpick, I have flipped the cord every which way, and I have tried holding the power button down for far longer than necessary.

I read somewhere to try an SMC reset while powered off (shift + control + option + power for 10 seconds), but that did nothing. I’m really at a loss here, my computer has been functioning fine lately so this seems out of the blue. And obviously the display is working since it showed me the low battery sign this morning before totally dying. Someone please help!!
