Refurbished iMac's USB-C cable not compatible with recharging mouse

I was not provided with a cable to recharge my mouse when I purchased my refurbished iMac. At an Apple Store today they sold me a USB-C cable which does not plug in to the mouse. I was already po’ed that the cable didn’t come with the computer so I have a useless computer. I went to the store, which is not convenient for me to get to, they didn’t solve the problem so I STILL have an expensive useless piece of junk on my desk.

The cable should have come with the refurbished iMac if you purchased it directly from Apple. See the following (just one example) from https://www.apple.com/shop/product/FJV83LL/A/Refurbished-24-inch-iMac-Apple-M1-Chip-with-8%E2%80%91Core-CPU-and-7%E2%80%91Core-GPU-Green

What’s in the Box

Refurbished iMac

Magic Keyboard

Magic Mouse

143W power adapter

Power cord (2 m)

USB-C to Lightning Cable

The current M4 iMacs use a USB-C to USB-C cable while the M1 and M3 iMacs sold by the Refurbished store use a USB-C to Lightning cable.
