Apple TV no longer permits changing slide show duration

I cannot believe that Apple has removed the longstanding ability to choose how long to see each slide in a screen saver slide show. This was a feature for many many years. To make matters worse, the default (not changeable time) is just a few seconds now.

I spent almost 40 hours preparing a slide show for Thanksgiving, and also for Christmas where we are hosting from our safari trip to South Africa in October, and the photos are scrolling away faster than anyone can look at them.

PLEASE restore this feature. Apple does not know best here - we should be able to adjust the per-slide time based on various factors. We own three Apple TV 4Ks. Also, apparently after much searching it seems Apple also does not allow 3rd party slideshow apps, at least I can't find any in the store. So there is no other good way to do this.

I do *not* want to Airplay this because these are very high resolution HDR photos of wildlife taken with a large megapixel DSLR.

If you want to present a slideshow, then set a Slideshow, not a Screen Saver.

Use the Photos app for iCloud Photos, or use the Computers app for photos on a networked computer with Home Sharing. First select a Photo Album, then select the Slideshow button in the top right corner, review its slideshow settings, then select the Start Slideshow button at the top.

I made Apple aware of this problem a few weeks ago. Let's hope it gets reinstated in a future update. I can understand them wanting to add functionality but there is no reason to remove something that provides a better user experience.

The appearance of the screen saver after a minimum of 2 mins idle time is also another annoying oversight. OLED tv's are sensitive to potential 'burn in' and two minutes showing a static image is not desirable on these types of tv's. It would be so easy to modify the code but another case in point where they are not really interested in what you think or desire - they think they always know best unfortunately.

I see. Thanks for the pointer, I hadn't clicked on that option in either Photos or Computers on ATV since I was focused on the screen saver.

While technically that does seem to get the job done, I failed to mention that another reason I wanted the screen saver was so no user action was actually necessary and the photos would automatically display when the ATV was idle. That's how this feature used to work, and it used to be possible to set the photo duration.

In general the newest "Memories" emphasis completely doesn't work for our family. First as I noted before everything changes too quickly and it's nearly impossible to actually enjoy the photos scrolling on the screen. I simply do not understand why the duration setting was removed here, esp with all the other new features.

Why Apple feels the need to distinguish between a slide show and something else is really beyond me, seems like the folks in Cupertino are a little too stuck in their cubes.

The total rework of the Photos app on IOS is also giving us fits. It's completely broken the workflow Apple had trained us to use for many years. But that's for a different day.
