keyboard or menu command for strikethrough text

I found some very old suggestions for adding keyboard shortcuts for strikethrough text in such programs and Pages & TextEdit. They don't seem to work in Sequoia. (2014, Is there a shortcut for StrikeThrough in … - Apple Community0


How do I do this in Sequoia? I can do this using Format>Font>Show Fonts and then choosing the symbol at the top, but I seek something more direct.

No, it won't: TextEdit does not have a menu path for Strikethrough. In TextEdit you have to go through Show Fonts (command + T) and click on the strikethrough icon.
