My new MacBook says my printer is offline. It isn't!

I unplugged both printer and router, deleted the printer and reinstalled it and after doing that it did print yesterday, but the same thing happened again today. I emailed the doc to me and opened it on my iPhone and it printed just fine without unplugging or reinstalling anything. Is there something I need to change on my laptop so I don't have to keep doing this? Thank you.

I have found it beneficial to assign a static IP address to things that don't move very often, like printers. Consult its documentation to learn how to do that, and then add it to Printers & Scanners that way.

Refer to Add a network printer by specifying its IP address in Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac - Apple Support.

Start by reviewing that printer's documentation, and look for something called network settings, Wi-Fi configuration, that sort of thing. Then, look for a choice between DHCP and Static IP or Fixed IP, something along those lines. The idea is to not use DHCP, which can change, and is the possible reason that printer keeps going off line.

To my knowledge every printer offers that feature. If you tell us that printer's exact model designation we may be able to help. By "exact model designation" you need to tell us its full name such as HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-In-One Printer and not just "HP 9025". This is an admittedly bad example because HP is fond of incredibly complex and arcane printer model names.
