How to adjust Font Size on iPad for better readability?

I’m having trouble reading the microscopic text in some emails. So I went to settings and found my normal size was already maximum. So I went to accessibility and turned on the increased range and set it up ONE STEP. The font size was then much too large. I went back to display and brightness and found it set a little above midrange. I stepped it down ONE STEP and it went back to the size it was before, too small! Where are the reasonable steps IN BETWEEN those two sizes??

iPad 5th gen iOS 16.7.10.

Wondering if experimenting with both general and accessibility settings at the same time is just too confusing. Apple Support's article: Change the font size on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support seems to say it is a matter of experimenting with both sliders ... it may take patience to keep experimenting, until the right combination is found.

Another option when composing an email is to tap the Aa icon in Mail, then choose the font size you want. (Earlier discussion thread on this topic: when composing an email on my iPad how do… - Apple Community)

There are also Zoom settings that can be useful for times certain text is too small to read

See how to: Zoom in on the iPad screen - Apple Support for the various options available.

All the best :-)
