Apple Watch blood oxygen - can it be enabled overseas

I live in Australia. My Apple watch failed while I was in the US in Nov 2024 and I replaced it in California. No one told me the oxygen feature was disabled. Can it be enabled now that I am back in Australia. It is one of the few features I used regularly.

That is correct; the ban on Apple Watches being imported with the O2 sensor active only applies to the US.

If you know someone in the US who can return it for you and you received it between November 8, 2024 and December 25, 2024, may be returned through January 8, 2025, then it can be returned, though I would suggest you confirm with Apple that someone other than you can handle the return. Apple to my knowledge will not accept a return shipped from another country.

Regards.

Perhaps I should consider buying a replacement in Australia and returning the current watch (or selling it second hand back in the US next month when I return to visit friends). I assume the O2 has only been disabled on watches sold in the USA. Is that correct? Had I known about the disabling of the O2 at the time of purchase I would have waited on replacing the watch until my return to Australia. It was never mentioned at the Apple store in Berkeley.
