I have a problem deleting random files from the Files App.

Every time I time I try to delete random files that I downloaded, I get the error, “The Operation Can’t Be Completed. Couldn’t communicate with a helper application.” Please Apple can you be kind to fix this iPadOS please please?

Start with a forced restart of your iPad - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Perhaps you have installed Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud - or some other App that can access other cloud-storage services. All of these Apps integrate with the native Files App - and are colloquially known as "helper applications".

If applicable, you will need to identify which of these additional Apps isn't working as expected. You may need to launch each of the helper Apps and verify that they are working as expected. Each may need to be deleted and then reinstalled.
