Automated iPadOS/iOS backup on macOS Sequoia

So finder sync, syncs iPadOS/iOS to the macOS when detected on the network. But why can't it also backup the device automatically. Why do I have to press backup then enter the password to the device?

I can backup my macOS devices through the network and do a time machine backup with no issue. But iPad/iOS OS there is no automated backup without user intervention.

No iCloud isn't an option.

I don’t ever connect my devices to my Mac as iCloud is too easy and so much better. I seem to remember back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, there was a toggle to automatically do something when connected. Maybe that was sync. The iPhone backup article doesn’t mention it.

It also does not automatically thin you iPhone backups. You have to delete older ones manually.
