Apple Air M3 which do I need 16GB or 24GB Unified Memory?

Purchasing new AppleAir M3 do I need 16GB or 24GB Unified Memory. Successfully using a 2011 MacBook Pro with 8GB & 1TB storage with OS that can't be updated anymore. I must buy new Apple laptop for security reasons & soon for internet access! Explain why 24GB is preferred over 16GB.

24GB is better than 16GB because RAM can not be upgraded after the computer is manufactured. As technology/apps change over the time you own the computer they may no longer work with only 16GB RAM.
