Conversion of Microsoft 365 files

Conversion of Microsoft 365 files, Word, Excel, files to Apple Pages, and Numbers files. I have done a search where it tells you to open Pages/Numbers and then go to files and open them, then select a file and open it. My problem is that the files I want to open are still in the Microsoft database. QUESTION: How do you move those files to the Apple data files?

What do you mean by Microsoft database? Is that your interpretation of Microsoft's cloud service named OneDrive?

If that is what you mean, you may need the current Microsoft OneDrive installed to perform the transfer from OneDrive to the Apple Finder and your Desktop. I think these are encrypted on OneDrive and only OneDrive will reverse that so these documents can be opened in Pages or Numbers.

Once you have the documents on your Desktop per the second paragraph, you should be able to right-click on them in the Finder and from the Open With menu, choose Pages or Numbers to open and translate these documents into Apple's application data formats. You will not be able to edit the Word or Excel files in Pages or Numbers because they are not Microsoft clones.
