Music keeps moving my music files out of my music library.

If I move a music file from the tracklist of an album on Music, the file will be moved from outside the folder. My music was working perfectly fine, but yesterday I noticed when trying to sync songs onto my iphone that one of the songs said it was missing, even though I had no recollection of deleting it. Except, earlier I was messing around with the song in question in Logic Pro (for fun), and I had dragged it onto my desktop than dragged it into logic. It turned out that when I deleted the song on the desktop, I had also removed it from the Music Library. I've been using Music reliably, and never has it CUT a song instead of COPY. I don't know what's going on, and I don't know what to do. I had to redownload that song from bandcamp, and I don't wanna do this everytime I accidentally through a song in the trash. Please if you know a solution to this please tell me.

When you dragged the track out of the Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/<album> to the Desktop you physically removed it from the Music library. As a result Music can't find it because its database tells it where to look and when it looked there the file was gone. It doesn't matter whether you deleted it or not - as far as Music is concerned the file isn't where it expected to find it and it doesn't search your HD to find it.

If you want to do this sort of thing in the future then when you drag the file hold the Option key and make sure there's a green "+" next to the dragged file, which means it's being copied, not moved.

If the music file is still in your waste bin then put it back in the correct Album folder in Music. You might have to locate the file in Music if it still can't find it. If you've emptied the waste bin and the track is gone then you'll have to either recover it from a Time Machine backup, or download/import it again, I'm afraid.
