iPhone 12 will not ping
My iPhone has stopped making a sound when pinged. From “Find my” it will vibrate, but will not make a sound. From my series 10 Apple watch, it will not make a sound or vibrate, although the watch thinks it’s pinging. If I hold down the ping button, however, the light will flash, as it should. The new feature in Apple watch 9 and 10 that is supposed to show the direction and number of feet to your watch (like an AirTag) has never worked. Even when my phone is touching the Apple Watch. I just updated from a series 3 to 10 and wonder why I spent the money! My series 3 nailed the ping every time and pinged even if the phone ringer was off or sleep or focus mode on.
Before you direct me to the typical troubleshooting instructions…don’t.
I have done them all to no avail:
- Airplane mode is off
- Ringer switch is on
- Ringer is at full volume (and works for every other application)
- I have restarted both iPhone and Applewatch repeatedly
- I unpaired and re-paired my watch (losing $20 of value from Clipper card that was stored on my Apple Watch!)
- There is no uninstalled iOS update
And because some features work but others don’t, it’s clearly connecting but I still have repeatedly
- Checked Bluetooth (it’s on) and
- Yes they are on the same WiFi network.
