Why is my MacBook Pro not syncing the date and time?

I've traveled to Singapore and can not get my MacBook pro to update the date and time via the system settings. My phone, watch and ipad sync up no problem with my wifi hotspot. But not my MacBook. I'm starting to think there is some whacky bug affecting Mac with the latest update... Is there any insight to this problem? My last time zone was US west coast in San Diego. I cannot get my Mac to show the right time via the auto feature and is very frustrating to say the least.

If you have an issue turn off "Automatic" and set it manually no harm there, and compare your results.

>System Settings>General>Date & Time

you can try from from the Terminal.app copy & paste:

sudo rm /var/db/timed/com.apple.timed.plist

this will remove the plist if corrupt, and rebuild.

(note—your psswd will not echo on screen type it in anyway, use the enter\return key to proceed. Quit Terminal.)

Reboot and compare your results.
