Hello! My iPad is showing the charging symbol when there's nothing plugged into it? Usually, there's a white charger symbol when it's not plugged in and dead but recently it's been doing this and I dont know why.

Sounds like the battery may need replacing. You will need to take it to Apple for diagnostics if it is unable to hold a charge or will no longer turn on when plugged in.

It is true that normally you see the charging cable when it is not plugged in, but if you have not replaced the battery yet on an iPad Air 2 that was launched 10 years ago, you will get unexpected results with a failed battery.
No it holds a charge and usually turns on when plugged in just fine, I have those weird chargers where they only charge at a certain angle so having the indicator of when it is and isn't charging is pretty important so I'm just confused on how to get that back up again, refer to photo.
I know the meaning of each charging icon, I'm saying its the wrong one.
