iPad is showing the charging symbol when there's nothing plugged into it

Hello! My iPad is showing the charging symbol when there's nothing plugged into it? Usually, there's a white charger symbol when it's not plugged in and dead but recently it's been doing this and I dont know why.

Sounds like the battery may need replacing. You will need to take it to Apple for diagnostics if it is unable to hold a charge or will no longer turn on when plugged in.

You will find a similar post with the same picture you describe here. The answer to contact Apple is the same.

It is true that normally you see the charging cable when it is not plugged in, but if you have not replaced the battery yet on an iPad Air 2 that was launched 10 years ago, you will get unexpected results with a failed battery.
