Keyboard backlight flickering after water damage

Hi, all.

Just like what the title says— I was watching something when I left to get bottled water. I accidentally spilled some water on my keyboard as I laid back down on the sofa since I didn't put the bottle cap on tightly (the spill wasn't that big).

Right now it's turned off, in the V-position (tent), and I've already wiped down every excess liquid I can see. Before I had turned it off though I noticed the tilde (~) key's backlight flickering so now I'm really paranoid.

Will my Macbook survive?

Thanks a lot in advance!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.7

Maybe.

You've done what you can for now. The only thing to do now is let it dry. You might use a hair dryer - just air or low temp - to help it dry. This could potentially push water farther into the computer though. Give it a day to dry and then use it as you would normally. If it works, it works. But there's a good chance that something will become a problem. Water does that and often the damage isn't discovered for some time.

If and when you discover that the computer has a problem, you can make a Genius Bar appointment for hardware/software service and support using this link: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support
