Brand new HomePod Mini stuck on "being configured"

Brand new HomePod Mini.

Model MTJT3LL/A.

I was able to update the version to 18.2.

My iPhone and iPad are both at 18.2.

The HomePod has been stuck at "HomePod is being configured. Additional settings will be available shortly..." for more than one hour. This is the second time I've tried it. The first time, I followed the troubleshooting steps of doing a hard reset, where you touch the center until it turns red, say it is about to reset and beeps three times.

Any advice is welcome.

HomePod mini, 18

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have 2 HomePods connected to the Apple TV in the Living Room and 2 HomePods as a stereo pair in another room. They all are used daily and never had a problem with them.

They are listed on the Support Page, but it is under TV. I suppose because they are frequently paired with the Apple TV, but I agree, they should either have a label called Home Entertainment or list each device separately.

I've been having a problem with my HP Minis. One connects, the other doesn't. I searched everywhere, tried ALL the things multiple times, nothing worked. There was one piece of advice in there that I ignored though b/c I *knew* that wasn't the issue.

CHECK THAT YOUR DEVICES ARE ALL ON THE SAME WIFI NETWORK!

Sorry for shouting, but I *just* realized that at some point, and not by my hand (purposefully), my laptop was connected to our Guest wifi. Once I switched it back (after DAYS of trying to figure this out and even window shopping for new, non-Apple speakers), it all worked fine. I'm not saying that's your issue, but heck, it might be. :-) Good luck!

Update on my issue.

I contacted Apple support. The extent of my troubleshooting was making sure my devices were updated to the latest version and using the Apple Devices app to restore the HomePod via my computer. That did not work either. After attempting this a few times, the HomePod became unresponsive.

I returned it to the store and will be looking into alternatives.

IMHO - Apple is not investing in the HomePod to make it a successful product.

A case in point is that HomePod is not even listed among the support categories on the primary support page, where you choose which product you want support for.

I own a HomePod and a HomePod mini and experienced this issue with my Mini version. I used my Mac to perform a restore an it and also to update it to the latest firmware version. I have had zero issues since I did those two things. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.
