USB-C to SD card reader not recognising on my iPhone 12

I have a USB-C to SD card reader and a third party USB-C to lighting cable adaptor in order to import photos from my SD card onto my iPhone 12.

when I plug in the lighting cable adapter + USB-C SD card reader, nothing happens on my phone.

I’ve read the instructions on apple, gone into files and photos and the import tab to see if anything was there - nothing.

I have the latest update but still nothing happens when everything is plugged in.

help!

all items are brand new iincluding the comsol third party adaptor

ive read the Apple page about how to importing photos from SD card reader so please don’t link me to that, nothing helped
