Unable to insert my iPhone 4 SIM card to iPhone 12

I cannot seem to make my sim from my iPhone 4 fit my iPhone 12, am I fitting it incorrectly or does it not fit?

Sim trouble I have an iPhone XS and I’m trying to put my SIM card in my new iPhone 11! It doesn’t seem to fit tho! The cutout area where the SIM card is sup to sit seems smaller in the 11 then in the XS!! Is it a company thing or am I just missing something! I originally had the X and changed over from that to the XS but now I have an 11! Do I need a different card?

It will not fit.

The iPhone 4 uses a Micro SIM, while newer models use the smaller Nano SIM.
