Can’t remove spam calendar events in Hotmail calendar on iPhone SE

Three spam calendar events have arrived in my Hotmail calendar and I cannot remove them. There is no option to delete or report the events.

I tried:

1) long-pressing the event and selecting Cut

2) clicking on the event and declining.

The events simply reappear. They are set for everyday for a month. I have tried steps 1 and 2 on the first day the events occur and for a day other than the first day. Same result both times, the events reappeared back in the calendar.

As far as I can see I don’t have other calendars or subscriptions that would allow events to be fed into my Hotmail calendar. There are no emails in my inbox or junk folder that relate to the invitations, so I have no idea how they’re getting in there.

Okay, it is solved:

1) I deleted my Outlook calendar account (Settings>Apps>Calendar>Calendar Accounts>Outlook>Delete Account)

2) Fully powered off my phone (just for good measure, as you do) and switched it on again

3) Added my Outlook calendar again

(same as above until you are in Calendar Accounts, then select Add Account, click on Outlook.com and enter your email and password related to your Outlook login)

The result is:

1) The spam calendar entries are no longer there

2) 24 hours later they have not returned and no fresh ones have appeared.
