Black box interferes with typing and text selection on iOS 18.2

Recently (I’m on IOS 18.2), the normal typing function stopped. Now a black box with white print occurs. It puts the typing in a continuous line (unless you hit return), and the first part you typed disappears in the initial part of the black box.

When you hit return, you can briefly type in a normal paragraph fashion.

In addition, when I want to select segments of text to copy, cut, or paste, in intrudes and interferes.

Maybe this is helpful to someone, but I want to stop this.

Does anyone have a solution?
