Turning off 5G on iPhone due to network issues
Is there any way to turn off 5g
Is there any way to turn off 5g because the only time my phone doesn’t work is when it’s connected to this stupid network.

Go to Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Options. You should see a setting there for Voice and Data. Depending on your carrier, you should see something about 5G and maybe LTE. Again, the setting you find there are dependent on your carrier. If you are experiencing problems with their 5G network, contact they for troubleshooting. They are the ones that support your ability to make a phone call and support cellular data.

Really strange. I have AT&T as well and cannot duplicate what you are reporting.
When I tap Settings > Cellular, I see the same thing that appears in the screenshots by ChrisJ4203.
Cellular Data
Cellular Data Options
Personal Hotspot
Maybe stop by an AT&T store and look at the sample phones and ask a few questions
There’s no “cellular data options.”
That is really strange, or did you mean to say that there is no option to turn off 5G under Cellular Data Options?
Yes, a poor 5G connection will use up to 10 times more battery power.
Who is your carrier?
My carrier is AT&T. No there is literally no thing that says cellular data options. it says cellular data which you can turn on or off, but nothing further regarding options. Immediately below there is personal hotspot. Several people on the Internet have put screenshots showing a separate line of cellular data options. That does not appear on my iPhone. And I have the last update.
But I appreciate the explanation about battery depletion, that helps explain why 5G is harmful not helpful. I needed to use Google maps walking around Chicago and I could not because not enough battery life, so I had to just guess where I was going.
Good luck. I don't believe it has anything to do with being connected to 5G. I'm on the fringes of the Chicago AT&T market, and don't always have 5G around my home, but I have always had those settings on my devices since 5G came out.

Programs won’t respond. Maybe a page or app will start to open but not all the way, basically freezes. Every time this happens i notice it’s on 5G. Also causes very rapid battery depletion.
Then it is possible that your carrier does not support you making any changes like that.
I'm surprised that you are not seeing the cellular options. I'm on AT&T in the Chicago market and this is what I see in mine. The Chicago market is a big 5G area for AT&T.
I wonder if cellular data options only appears when you’re on 5G, not otherwise. I’m not on 5G where I am today and yesterday and maybe that’s why I haven’t seen it since I started looking.
But I’ll check at the AT&T store and see how their phones look. Thanks for the ideas.
Hello, davidfromgolden.
Is there any way to turn off 5g
No, there is no way to turn off 5G due to your iPhone’s inability to control your carrier’s network. If you want to switch from a 5G network, contact your cell service provider.
…the only time my phone doesn’t work is when it’s connected to this stupid network.
What do you mean by doesn’t work? This could be some other factor that you don’t notice. We may be able to give some suggestions if you provide more details.
When you click cellular under sims click your phone number then select voice & data and you should see 5g auto 5g and any other options to switch. I had the same issue of not seeing it under the cellular main screen. It seems Apple moved it to the sims portion for the phone line. Hope this helps.
