Why isn't my AirTag updating its location?
I don’t want to pay for OnStar so I put an I tag in my car but it doesn’t update Show car in my driveway even though it is out and about.

AirTags are not GPS trackers. Rather, they rely on. the FindMy network (basically most every Apple device on the planet). It requires multiple hits from nearby Apple devices to tag a. location for an airTag. If your. car its parked in a busy shopping center with a lot of people walking by, you'll. probably see the location updated.
