You cannot upgrade the CPU, GPU, or RAM on a 2017 MacBook Air. (You can get internal SSD upgrade kits, from Other World Computing, but those alone won't make the machine suitable to run modern flight simulators.)

The CPU is a two-core mobile one (1.8 GHz Core i5-5350U or 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-5650U). There is no discrete GPU – just the integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000. There is 8 GB of soldered-in RAM.

Your MacBook Air does not meet the minimum X-Plane – X-Plane 12 System Requirements, which call for an Intel CPU with four or more cores, and a discrete video card with at least 2 GB of VRAM. Let alone the recommended ones. You could download the free demo and try to play it, but I suspect even that would be a waste of time.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X seems to require Windows software and some very specific hardware.

xplane might work ...it at least mentions Macs, but there are specific graphics card requirements

I would expect that performance on a 13-inch 2017 MacBook Air laptop would be problematic.
