Screen Time not blocking cellular data on iPhone

I followed the standard tutorial how to set the changes to mobile data to Do not Allow but it does not take effect - rebooted the phone twice still no go. The cellular data is still not grayed out.

Any idea how to actually get these settings to work? I don't want him to use any data.

thanks!

Screen Time on iPhone does not have a direct feature to block cellular/mobile data usage entirely. However, it does allow or disallow changes to cellular data settings. Here’s a detailed explanation:

Screen Time Features Regarding Cellular/Mobile Data:

  1. Allow/Disallow Changes to Cellular Data Settings:
    1. Through Screen Time, you can restrict changes to cellular data settings. This means that once cellular data settings are set, they cannot be altered without the Screen Time passcode.
    2. To set this up, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Cellular Data Changes. Here, you can choose to allow or disallow changes.
  2. App Limits:
    1. You can set app limits which can indirectly limit the usage of cellular data by restricting the time spent on apps that use data.
    2. Go to Settings > Screen Time > App Limits to set limits on specific apps or categories of apps.
  3. Downtime:
    1. You can schedule downtime, during which only apps you choose to allow and phone calls will be available.
    2. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Downtime to configure this.
  4. Always Allowed:
    1. You can choose apps that are always allowed even during downtime or after app limits have been reached.
    2. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Always Allowed to manage this.

While Screen Time does not offer a direct switch to block all cellular data usage, it provides tools to manage and restrict access to apps and settings, which can indirectly help control data usage.
