I’m sure I can’t be alone in wondering why, without any sense of irony, Apple has made it near impossible to find my favourite pictures. I mean who thinks up these improvements…?

"Favorites" is now one of the "Pinned Collections" along with "Map" and several others. By default, Pinned Collections is a section below Recent Days and People & Pets, but you can change that order by scrolling down to "Customize & Reorder" at the very bottom, clicking that, and dragging the topics up and down by the line triples on the right. Some people like to drop Pinned Collections up to the top of that list. (That's also where you can hide sections you don't want to see at all.)
