Refund Request – Ineligible Status Clarification

Dear Apple Support Team,

I recently attempted to request a refund through your refund portal, but I was informed that I am not eligible for a refund. I am reaching out to ask for clarification and assistance regarding this matter.

The purchases in question were not made by me. Someone else used my device to make these purchases without my consent. These purchases are for virtual items (points in a children’s game) that I do not want or need. I kindly ask for your understanding and assistance in refunding the amount, as this was an unintentional purchase.

Please let me know if you need additional information to process my request. I appreciate your time and support in resolving this issue.

Best regards,

Your phone and purchases are protected by requiring the Passcode. This information would have to be given to the person to make the purchase. That is your responsibility and the Passcode authorizes them to make any purchases. If you are going to give your Passcode to another person, then you will also need to use one of the many methods to restrict what you do not want to allow the person to do. It may also be time to change your Passcode if you do not want them to access your phone at all.

All transactions in the App Store are final. On occasion, Apple may offer a compassionate refund, but it should never be expected. When asking for a refund, you usually are given 1 appeal, and after that, the item becomes no longer eligible as it has already been reviewed twice.

We can assist in helping you prevent that from happening again with a little more information on what you want to allow others to do with your iPhone.

It sounds like Apple has already made their decision, so there is nothing additional we can offer there. Since it sounds like a child was the person who did this, you may want to get a parent involved. Something else you can do is require a Password for purchases that is different from the device Passcode. They would not be able to make a purchase even if they learned the Passcode to your device.

Sorry, it is similar to if the child took money out of your wallet, you wouldn't go to the bank to have your money replaced, but the child may need to be taught that it is not acceptable by a parent and you can prevent that from happening again by securing your wallet.

All that we can do is offer a solution so that does not happen again. We don't have the power to override a decision made by Apple.
