Transfer photos to a thumb drive

What am I doing wrong!! I go to photos, select the photos and go to safe as. I thought I was supposed to click export unmodified originals but nothing happened. I was hoping the selected photos were transferred to the thumb drive but it’s empty. Can someone help??

Here's what happens for me: I plug in a drive. I select some pictures, tap share, and choose "Save to Files." That takes me to a screen that shows some files "On My iPhone." So I hit the "< Browse" thing at the top left, and I get back to a screen with, for me, "iCloud Drive," "On My Phone," "Untitled," and my Drive's name. I tap on my drive, and I get that drive's catalog, and "Save" is in the upper right of the screen. When I tap "Save," I can see new pictures appearing on the Drive.

If you want "Export Unmodified Originals," then select that instead of "Save to Files." The rest is the same.

I don't see "Save As" anywhere.

It should work, but as a workaround, export 1st to some folder in your home folder, then use the Finder to copy that to the external drive.

Then troubleshoot why the direct export did not work. Remove 3rd party virus apps (Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, Intego, MacAfee, Norton, Kaspersky, ESET NOD32, Trusteer, PC Matic etc) and 3rd party "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" apps (CleanMyMac, Cleaner One, MacKeeper etc). They produce obscure errors like this and are not needed.
