Return with Apple Cash

I purchased something using Apple Cash money that I got from friends not money pulled from a Debit/credit account. If I returned that item will I get it back in Apple Cash? They just said money will go back go the original form of purchase.

Yes. Money will go back to the original form of purchase, that being the Apple Cash account in your case.
